Here’s a list of the questions I get asked most frequently. If the answer you need isn’t found here feel free to get in touch directly.

How do I go about making a booking?

Contact me via email, phone or contact form in the first instance with details of your event – date, location and what parts of the day/how long you’d like me to play for. If I’m available and you’d like to go ahead, I will send confirmation by way of an invoice. I take 25% deposit or the full amount as outlined in the payments FAQ below.

How do you take payment?

By cash on the day or bank transfer. Bank details are provided once you make a booking.

The venue we’re getting married at doesn’t have a piano. Can you provide your own?

Yes. I have a portable digital stage piano, made by Korg. It has an internal speaker system which is useful for the smallest of venues but for most weddings and events I set it up with a compact PA system, meaning the sound is projected much more clearly to guests across the room. The piano and PA take 30 mins maximum to set up.

Can you play the piano in two different locations on the day?

Of course. I often get asked to play during two or more parts of the day – the ceremony, drinks reception and/or wedding breakfast – which are almost always in different locations at the venue. If there’s an upright or grand piano already in place, I will set my own piano in the alternative location. Alternatively, my own piano can be moved around different rooms with a quick turnaround.

The venue has asked for PAT test and public liability insurance. Do you have this?

Yes. I am covered for up to £1 million public liability through specialist insurer MusicGuard. All of the portable equipment I use is PAT tested. I can forward these on to you or to the venue directly.

Do you take requests?

Yes. My repertoire is expanding all the time and I’m always interested in hearing and learning new pieces if it’s not in my current list of songs. Ideally with at least a few weeks notice but the longer the better.

If you’d like me to play for the wedding ceremony, please have a think about 3-5 pieces which you’d like – one for the bride’s entrance, one for the exit music and two or three if you’d like music to be played during the signing of the register.

How long do you play for?

I play anything from one hour to four hours and beyond. As a rough guide from experience, estimated times for each part of the day are as follows:

Guest arrival – 30 mins
Wedding ceremony – 20-30 mins
Drinks reception – 1.5 hours – 2 hours
Wedding breakfast – 2 hours

I usually play straight through for up to two hours, with short breaks for any continuous periods beyond this.
